Entry Level Landscape Designer

THK Associates, Inc. is currently looking for an Entry Level Landscape Designer to join the Landscape/Planning department.  This position will require being part of project teams led by various project managers.  The position requires work/task management skills. It is expected that this full time position will be filled immediately.  There is opportunity for advancement with demonstration of ability to perform. 

THK is a smaller, but highly collaborative group of passionate and environmentally focused Landscape Architects and Designers who work on a wide variety of projects including river restoration; transportation; parks, trails and greenways; urban design; regional and community planning and visualization. THK strives to keep our staff engaged by offering project experience in areas that interest each staff member and by promoting personal and professional growth.  Our open studio environment will require an individual who is competent, respectful and driven.      

Candidates should have a well-rounded background and interests, a strong work ethic and a desire to be involved and exposed to many different project types and a variety of deliverables.  Additional skills that will help the selected candidate succeed include good verbal, graphic and written communication skills; ability to multi-task and organize; ability to complete tasks on set deadlines; ability to work in a team environment; initiative to take on additional responsibilities; strong hand drawing skills are preferred and creativity and vision on large and small scale projects.

Software:  Applicants should have proficiency in:

  • REQUIRED: AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
  • PREFERRED: SketchUp and SketchUp extensions, Civil 3-D, GIS, Lumion

Education:  Applicants should have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture.

Registered Landscape Architect / Project Manager

THK Associates, Inc. is currently looking for a Registered Landscape Architect / Project Manager to join the Landscape/Planning department.  The Project Manager is directly accountable to the Director of Planning and Landscape Architecture. Day to day responsibilities will include delegation conceptual design, hand, computer and/or 3D graphics preparation, taking part in public and client meetings and preparation of construction documents/administration. This position will also include delegation, direction and management of staff for landscape architect and planning project tasks. The candidate will be expected to be a professional registered landscape architect and have land planning experience.  A Project Manager candidate will receive exposure to and participate in all projects undertaken by the firm including both private development and public community driven projects. The Project Manager position will assist in the tracking of firm work opportunities, development of proposals, fostering client relationships and business development tasks.  The Project Manager will be responsible for assisting in project management tasks including client relations, coordination with sub-consultants and government agencies, billing, budget management and staff management.   

Candidates should have a strong work ethic, the ability to manage multiple projects at any given time and produce a variety of different deliverables.  Additional skills that will help the selected candidate succeed include good verbal, graphic and written communication skills; ability to multi-task and organize; ability to complete tasks on set deadlines; ability to clearly direct staff on work product; ability to work in a team environment; initiative to take on additional responsibilities; strong hand drawing skills are preferred; creativity and vision on large and small scale projects and irrigation design experience is preferred.

Education and Experience: Applicants should have a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Architecture and Project Management experience working in a professional planning and design consulting firm.
