According to the City of Colorado Spring's website, The Uintah Street Bridge Underpass trail construction is an "$1.1- to $1.2-million project [that] will eliminate the most dangerous road crossing on this section of trail and make the trail on the western side of the creek more usable. Legacy Loop Plaza opened in November. With about 100 parking spaces, bus pull-ins and easy access from I-25, the area is perfect for staging big races and other events."
“[The Design and Construction Teams] did a great job getting this massive project done and we are very happy it is over and the results are already paying off,” Mayor Mike Hillman said in an interview with CBS News 4.
Construction for the gabion retaining walls has begun. These walls will provide trail access under the Uintah bridge, which will become one of the off street connections of the Legacy Loop in Downtown Colorado Springs.
