Client:

The New York architecture firm Kohn Pederson Fox commissioned Dunn Associates to develop a landscape plan and site-specific details for a mountain home in Vermont. The landscape design addressed outdoor terraces, grading, lighting, paths and steps as well as planting. The owner did not want any lawn on the property and the architect did not want to hide the slate foundation of the house. After analyzing the microclimate and soil conditions the use of low bush blueberries was selected. This is an early use of a mass planting of native plant materials to integrate the house and site with an environmentally sensitive approach and resulting in a visually powerful landscape.
